A long-exposure photo of a picturesque stream in a forest. Smooth, moss-covered rocks fill the foreground, leading the eye to a small waterfall cascading over a rocky ledge in the background. Sunlight filters through the lush green canopy, creating dappled light on the water and surrounding foliage.

Bigger Things

While making my way to photograph another location in the Yorkshire Dales, I discovered this delightful scene purely by chance and I knew instantly I had to photograph it.

I spent time carefully composing the shot, using the large rock in the foreground as an anchor to draw the viewer’s eye into the scene. The long exposure transformed the water into a silky veil, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere. As I stood there, I couldn’t help but reflect on the journey this little stream was on. From this peaceful woodland, its waters would eventually flow into the mighty River Aire, then the Humber, and finally out into the vast North Sea, a reminder of the interconnectedness of nature, and how even the smallest beginnings can lead on to bigger things.
