Heavens Above
I often approach a location with a specific image in mind. For this scene, I knew the weathered cross atop the rocky outcrop would be most striking under moody, atmospheric lighting. I waited for a day with the right forecast and set off, hoping the elements would align.
The hike was invigorating, but the weather at the summit was less than promising. Thick clouds obscured the view, and a chilly wind whipped across the moor. Yet, I remained optimistic. The wind was my ally, constantly shifting the clouds and creating fleeting opportunities. After what felt like an eternity, the clouds parted, and the late evening sun bathed the scene in a soft, ethereal light. It was even better than I’d imagined.
