Trouble Ahead

This location had been on my photography bucket list for ages, and I knew the magic would happen with a long exposure at sunset. Timing was everything – the sun’s position shifts throughout the year, so I had to plan my visit during the peak of summer.

One evening, I set out with high hopes. It had been a glorious summer day, the kind that promises a picture-perfect sunset. But as I arrived and started setting up, dark clouds began to creep in. A thunderstorm was brewing in the distance, a few hours away but closing in fast.

I managed to capture this shot just in time. The threatening clouds add a drama and intensity I hadn’t anticipated, and honestly, I think it makes the image even better than I’d imagined. It’s a reminder that even the most carefully laid plans can take an unexpected turn, and sometimes those surprises lead to the best results.

A long exposure landscape photograph of a river flowing over moss-covered rocks. The river curves through a valley with rolling hills in the background. The sky is dramatic with dark clouds and a sliver of warm sunset light on the horizon.
